The client
HartiesFM calls itself “die hartklop van Suid-Afrika”: a community radio station that streams around the clock, with positive news, music from the sixties to now, and a strong local following in Hartbeespoort and further afield. The station needed a home online that does more than list a stream link. Listeners should be able to press play the moment they land, and advertisers should see an audience worth reaching.
What I built
- A custom live audio player, designed and coded by hand rather than a plug-in, so the station’s look carries through to the moment people listen
- The weekly Top 20 countdown and music charts
- News, a programme schedule and a page for the station’s outside broadcasts
- An advertiser section and partner banners, so the site earns its keep
- A WhatsApp channel and giveaway (potgooi) features to keep listeners involved
- Everything written in Afrikaans, for the station’s audience
